Virtual Assistant
I am efficient, organised and enjoy a challenge. I appreciate jobs that stretch me, and learning new skills in any field excites me. Some of the positions I have worked in, have been service-orientated, where an extremely high standard was expected. Other occupations demanded strong admin skills. I have held positions working in fast-paced, high-pressured environments, sometimes dealing with difficult personalities. I have worked in international environments, where my colleagues were from over 50 nations at any time. I will run with any opportunity I am presented with.
~ I have a Bachelor degree in Human Resource Management and I have two years of experience as an HR Clerk, where I fulfilled numerous HR and administration duties.
~ My experience as PA to the Group Chairman, whilst maintaining my role in the HR department, taught me time management and many assistant-related skills.
~ For the past eight years I have been working in an international environment, on a luxury cruise ship. The last seven of those years, I have been in an administration and secretarial position known as Ship’s Operations Assistant. In this role, I fulfilled the administration duties for the Deck department, was the secretary to the Captains and Vice Captains, dealt with local authorities in countries around the world, and worked remotely with the various company offices.
~ I am very eager to learn new skills, particularly in technology. I recently started learning HTML and CSS. I would like to continue with other coding languages, SEO, Social Media Marketing and design. I believe these skills will make me a stronger Virtual Assistant.
~ In my role as Ship’s Operations Assistant, I was assigned the duty of assisting the Project Manager and the Project Team during a major overhaul of the vessel during dry dock. This particular dry dock was a month long, whereas most are only a week or two.
~ I have an eye for detail, particularly in written communication. Working with many non-native English speakers on the ship, I was often asked to assist with correcting formal written communication and documents.
~ I have a strong command of the English language, knowing more than simply the difference between “their”, “there”, “they’re”.
~ My typing skills are above average, and I have transcribed meetings, sometimes where participants had heavy accents.
~ I have experience drafting and finalising documents with technical terminology. If I do not understand a term, I know how to research it.
~ I enjoy working in a team or independently. Maintaining working relationships remotely comes easily to me.
The gaps in my work experience can be explained by periods of travelling, or working in unrelated jobs, such as waitressing when I first joined the cruise ship. Although waitressing is not directly related to Assistant positions, I learnt about customer service and enhanced my people skills. I am happy to elaborate on any aspect if desired.
